Russell Manning was born in November, 1914 in New York. Manning was interested in World War I aviation and focused on collecting materials related to British and German aviation. He was a member of Cross and Cockade Journal and associated with a number of other World War I aviation historians represented in the collections of the History of Aviation Collection, including Iver Penttinen. Manning passed away on October 20, 1975 in the Bronx, New York City. Upon Manning’s death, Iver Penttinen collected these materials.
