dc.description | Invitation to and program for a screening of a compilation of media clips from civil rights movements put together by the program's sponsors. The movements were African American Civil Rights, Chicano, American Indian, Women's Liberation, LGBT, and The Arab Spring. Each segment was separated into three parts: 1) an introduction, 2) the media's response to a significant event, and 3) a conclusion about the after-effects on the movements by the media's involvement. Following the screening a question and answer session was conducted by Touré, an American journalist and co-host of MSMBC's The Clyde. During the discussion Touré talked about the positives and negatives of the media's coverage in each movement. He finished the program by talking about the link between the 1960's Civil Rights Movement and the social issues facing America at the present time. | en_US |
