Description
Press release announcing the debut of the men's baseball and women's softball teams, which was "the first time in the university's 33-year history that either sport has been played at UTD on an officially sanctioned intercollegiate level." The first baseball game was played against Texas Wesleyan University. The first softball game was played against Texas Lutheran University. The Comets won the baseball game 5-2 and went on to post a 22-17 (13-10 conf.) record in their first season. The Lady Comets lost their first game 5-3 and went on to post a 9-28 (5-18 conf.) record for the season.
