Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a chronic neurodegenerative disorder, characterized by progressive cognitive decline. Presence of amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles in the brain are hallmark AD pathology, which mediates synaptic injury and neuronal death, as well as neuroinflammation. Here we outline the various factors associated with brain amyloidosis in an AD mice models. We observed progressive Amyloid beta (A) production and deposition in the brain of the model mice. In addition, activation of microglia accompanies the development of amyloid plaques with age, which is associated with increased neuroinflammation in the mouse model.
