Abstract

The thesis is a process document for a 2D animated short I created titled ‘A Tithe Debt’. The story highlights the challenges Artists go through while dealing with clients. It has some comical elements and a moral ending. The second, third and fourth chapters lay emphasis on the programs used in executing this project, the milestones I encountered while making the project and the application of techniques described in past ATEC classes that contributed to the success of this project. Furthermore, it discusses the production pipeline (pre-production, production and post-production), the story arc (which entails a story structure with a beginning, middle and end), the principles of cinematography such as camera angles as well as the reasons for using them, and then explored two varieties of character designs. I developed new techniques for handling 2D animations as a result of working on this project especially with all the trial and error I experienced during the process.
