Robert Hilborn is a professor and program head of the Department of Science/Mathematics Education. Dr. Hilborn’s research interests include lasers, atomic and molecular spectroscopy, and nonlinear dynamic systems. As head of Science and Mathematics Education he has been involved in professional development of new STEM faculty members as well as the use of peer instruction in large lecture classes, the development of conceptual surveys to test conceptual development in STEM courses, and the role of college and university STEM departments in developing and sustaining change in STEM education.
