America is faced with an unprecedented financial crisis. The nation and the world are waiting anxiously as policymakers debate solutions to the credit crisis that has clogged capital markets, but no one is paying closer attention than economic scholars.
Several UT Dallas scholars shared their insight and discussed policy options at a forum hosted by the Economics Program in the School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences.
The forum was held at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30 in the TI Auditorium (ECS2.102) in the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science.
A faculty panel of five economists offered opinions and perspectives. Economics Program Head Dr. Jim Murdoch moderated.
“I think there is a lot of confusion about the current economic conditions, and I believe that we can resolve some of that for people,” said Dr. Murdoch. “We’re going to offer a friendly, yet academic setting to give the university community an opportunity to ask questions and better understand what economists are trying to do to sort out this crisis.”
The faculty panel included:
- Dr. Nathan Berg, professor of behavioral economics.
- Dr. Rachel Croson, professor of experimental economics.
- Dr. Chetan Dave, professor of macroeconomics.
- Dr. Ted Day, professor of finance and managerial economics.
- Dr. Stan Liebowitz, professor of economics.
